ECASBA’s ninth European Seminar is being held this year on 25th and 26th June in another of Europe’s foremost maritime centres, the Italian port city of Naples. The event – which is open to representatives of all ECASBA, and indeed FONASBA member associations – is generously supported by our Italian association, FEDERAGENTI and is being held under the umbrella of Naples Shipping Week 2014.
As always, the seminar programme starts, and finishes, with lunch – beginning at 12.30 pm on Wednesday 25th June and ending at 2.30 pm on Thursday 26th June.
Dinner on Wednesday night, where delegates will be joined by the speakers and senior members of the Italian association, is also included. This year the dinner will be held at the home of Umberto Masucci MICS, Honorary Member and former President of FONASBA, past Chairman of ECASBA and FEDERAGENTI and President of the Propeller Club of Italy. Umberto’s house is set in a spectacular location high above the city and the garden provides a stunning overview of the city and Bay of Naples.
This year, the theme of the first session is “eMaritime for Business”, during which we will be looking at progress towards achieving a harmonised and streamlined electronic vessel reporting regime. Delegates will be addressed by a number of senior figures directly involved in developing and implementing electronic reporting facilities. Both Marku Mylly, Executive Director of the European Maritime Safety Authority and Alan Long, Chairman of the European Port Community Systems Association, have already confirmed their attendance. It is anticipated the European Commission (DG-MOVE) will also be present.
Following its successful introduction in Hamburg last year, session two on 26th June will be dedicated to looking at these and other issues from the perspective of our Italian members, who will play an active role in the programme.
The seminar will take place at the Stazione Marittima and the nominated hotel is the NH Hotel (http://nhambassador.hotelinnapoli.com) where accommodation has been reserved for all delegates for the nights of 26th and 26th June at a rate of €110.00 per room per night inclusive of breakfast but exclusive of local room tax.
With the seminar being included in the programme for Naples Shipping Week 2014, ECASBA delegates are encouraged to stay on after its conclusion to participate in the NSW/Port&Shipping Tech programme, which concludes on Friday 27th with a Gala Dinner at the stunning Castel Dell’Ovo located on the Bay of Naples. A summary of the events is available here. Delegates wishing to stay in Naples outside of the seminar dates should make their own arrangements for accommodation, details of which are available here.
Seminar registration fees are unchanged from 2012/13 at €420.00 for the first delegate from each association, €375 for the second and €250 for the third and subsequent delegates.
Online registration (which includes bookings for accommodation) is available below.
The Chairman of ECASBA, Antonio Belmar da Costa looks forward to welcoming representatives of every European member association, and those from further afield, to Naples in June.
